Abstract
Abstract Molecular structure of [Ru(bpy)2(CO)(η1-C(O)OH)](CF3SO3)(H2O) (bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine) has revealed that protonation of [Ru(η1-CO2)(bpy)2(CO)] as a key step in CO2/CO conversion shortens the Ru-C(O)OH bond distance compared with the Ru-CO2 one due to enhancement of dπ-pπ* interaction in the former.
