Abstract

ABSTRACT Tilting experiments on sections of embedded light meromyosin paracrystals of known periodic structure indicate that the section thickness decreases during examination in the electron microscope. The material remaining in the section after irradiation collapses uniformly to about one half the initial thickness. This must be taken into account when measurements are made on tilted sections.
