Abstract

The development of simple ascidians as a whole has been already described (Berrill, 1929), but its abbreviation in certain members of the family Molgulidae merits separate treatment and forms the main subject of this paper. The influence of viviparity and yolk accumulation on the development and the general biology of these forms will also be discussed.
