Abstract

The effect of electrical anharmonicity on the shape of ir and Raman hydrogen-stretching bands is examined in the case of liquids containing weak hydrogen bonds. This mechanism is shown to have a weak spectral activity and to shift the bands slightly from the positions they would have in the absence of this process. Its efficiency may roughly be estimated by comparing the profiles in ir and Raman spectra.
