Abstract
We have performed a theoretical analysis of the stability of a gasketed sample in a diamond anvil cell. Our analysis shows the stability of the sample depends principally on the yield strength and the thickness of the gasket, the bulk modulus and the radius of the sample, and the geometry of the culet. Our results yield a simple methodology that can be used to obtain stable samples in a diamond anvil cell.
