Abstract
A long chain molecule is considered, of which each segment carries a reactive group. It is assumed that the reactivity of each group depends upon whether zero, one, or two of its nearest neighbors have reacted. The average fraction of reacted groups is determined as a function of time. This is done by first deriving appropriate equations to describe the kinetics and then solving these equations. The results are illustrated by a number of graphs which show the average fraction of reacted groups as a function of time for different ratios of the reactivities.
