Abstract
A modified hot-wire type thermal conductivity cell suitable for measuring the effects of the finite length of the test cell on the heat transfer from the hot wire is described. With the apparatus in vertical position, measurements were made in argon, neon, and helium over a wide range of pressures and temperatures, indicating the use of the apparatus and the magnitude of the effects of pressure, temperature, and test cell length on the heat transfer.
