Abstract
Absolute differential cross sections of electrons elastically scattered by CO and N2 have been measured at 500, 400, and 300 eV. At scattering angles greater than 12° there is no significant difference between the two isoelectronic molecules. At small angles the cross sections for CO increase at a slightly faster rate than for N2, reflecting the presence of a dipole moment for the heteronuclear CO molecule.
