  7. ‘Globigerina wilsoni bolivariana Petters’, Contr. Cushman Found., 5, 39 (1954) is represented by a single specimen (holotype) in the U.S. National Museum; our examination of this specimen has shown it to be so similar to Globorotalia opima opima Bolli, 1957, that we suspect that its supposed provenance from the Middle Eocene is incorrect; if the two taxa prove to be synonymous, bolivariana is the senior species-name, but more specimens would be necessary to establish this, because the holotype may be an atypical homoeomorph. In our work, the species G. opima opima is maintained for nomenclatorial stability.
