  9. As pointed out by Henderson et al.11), eq. (2) is not valid for a real system and the 6–12 potential may not be a close approximation to the real two-body potential for argon12,13). However, this potential has been used to study rare gas solids and liquids and while the agreement between theory and experiment is to some extent accidental, it does provide justification for using this potential for further studies. To be exact, we have chosen this potential for purposes of illustrating the properties of various cluster packings.
