- At the beginning of this work, we assumed the anomalously low thermal conductivity value of 2.4 mW/cm-K at 300K for EuSe in the Handbook of Chemistry and Physics, 74th Ed., “Properties of Semiconductors” eds. L.I. Berger and B.R. Pamplin, 1993–1994 was correct. Subsequent unpublished measurements (communicated by G.A. Slack) by R.O. Pohl and Eunjoo Wahang at Cornell University (using a high-quality, high-electrical-resistivity bulk single crystal of EuTe grown at Lincoln Laboratory by R.E. Fahey) yielded a value for the lattice thermal conductivity for EuTe of 110 mW/cm-K at 300K. Since both EuSe and EuTe have the rock-salt crystal structure, the Handbook value for the thermal conductivity of EuSe is incorrect.
