- The boiling point of ethyl chloride is + 12°.6 C.
- By means of a heat exchanger an attempt was made to use the cold content of the ethyl chloride drained off at −78°C. Working on a laboratory scale this proved to be too complicated.
- Waste gas I collected at the beginning of the experiment. Waste gas II during the experiment.
- This was proved by two similar experiments with an iron and a copper vessel respectively.

- Compressed ethylene was always used therefore the use of an expansion‐cylinder (that could be heated above the critical temperature of ethylene +9.5° C) was necessary.
- To control the gas velocity.
- This is important when the ethylene is contaminated with gases which do not react with hydrogen chloride.
- Some petrol‐fractions can be quite well used instead of the expensive alcohol or acetone
