Abstract

AbstractThe synthesis of poly[3‐(6‐tetrahydropyran‐2‐yloxyhexyl)‐2,5‐thienylene] has been performed with a nickel catalyst, obtaining a highly regioregular polymer. The deprotection of the pyranyl function restores the OH group giving a polymer which is not soluble in the usual organic solvents but soluble in 1‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone, indicating that no crosslinks are present. The protected form was characterised by means of GPC, 1H NMR, FTIR and UV‐Vis spectroscopy and was found to give Langmuir‐Blodgett multilayered structures.
