Abstract

AbstractA comparison between commonly used multiphasic zone electrophoresis (MZE) and continuous zone electrophoresis (CZE) buffer systems for polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis in sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS‐PAGE) was performed. Some proteins behave differently in one or more of the buffer systems, indicating that buffer choice for SDS‐PAGE may be more important than previously recognized. Guidelines are suggested for choosing buffer systems for purposes other than molecular weight analysis.
