  24. Note: In principle a complete photoelectrochemical cell could be constructed by coupling a photocathode for hydrogen generation and a photoanode for water oxidation. A proton exchange membrain for example nafion could be employed to separate the two photoelectrodes particularly in the case when they do not function at the same pH condition. In this regard it is expected that both the electrodes funtion at neutral or near to neutral pH. The pH 5 electrolyte solution just represents a near to neutral pH solution in which the best compromise between catalytic activities of Si‐NW@MoS2and stability of the Si‐NWs regarding the oxidation was achieved.
