  14. Procedure: Boiling solutions of 2 5‐DM‐DCNQI (184 mg 1.00 mmol) in CH3CN (20 mL) and CuI (128 mg 672 mmol) in CH3CN (10 mL) were combined allowed to cool and the black precipitate filtered off under suction. Yield: 188 mg (87%) (2 5‐DM‐DCNQI)2Cu; m.p. 229°C (decomp.); correct C H N analyses.

Procedure: A solution of 2 5‐DM‐DCNQI (46 mg 250 mmol) and CuBr2(223 mg 1.00 mmol) in CH3CN (60 mL) was electrolyzed with a current density of 53 μA cm−1for 72 h in a cell furnished with diaphragms and Pt electrodes. 17 mg (30%) of up to 6‐cm long black needles of [2 5‐DM‐DCNQI]2Cu separated at the cathode. M.p. 229°C (decomp.); correct C H N analysis.
  16. Four‐point conductivity measurements with vaporized gold strips perpendicular to the crystal axis. Measurements of the anisotropy of the conductivity with reduced contact dimensions are presently under way.
