Abstract

The excellent field emission characteristics of carbon nanotube films, i.e., the property that the tips of the nanotubes emit electrons when placed in an electric field, are discussed in some detail. The experimental configurations used (see Figure) and the results obtained are reviewed. It is suggested that carbon nanotube films should be considered as good candidates for display applications. magnified image
