Abstract

Excited‐state charge‐transfer complexes (exciplexes) of conducting polymers can be formed by the absorption of light by the polymers (e.g. see Figure), and their generation is not restricted by the free‐energy requirements of their ground‐sate analos. This makes them of particular interest for applications ranging from xerographic photoconductors to nonlinear optics and LEDs. magnified image
